Ride For Kids

My favorite charity is Ride for Kids. I am the Media Coordinator for the Los Angeles Ride for Kids. This is one of more than 30  motorcycle charity rides that benefits the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. Money goes toward medical research, college scholarships, and family support. Any child that is surviving a brain tumor gets to ride along in a motorcycle side car during the police escorted ride. For some of these kids, it is the highlight of their year and they have a huge smile on their face all day!

My volunteer role as the Media Coordinator is to get the press releases to TV, Radio, and Newspaper outlets, to try to get as much publicity as we can. I also help with bike nights, and other day of event duties. Please help me spread the word, and even if you don’t ride a motorcycle, please come join us that day to watch the parade of bikes, or to volunteer. If you are interested in volunteering please contact me. (If you would rather do a walk/run, we also have an 8.5K event called Starry Night at Griffith Park in November.)

I fundraise in memory of Shawn Overmiller. Shawn was the son of my good friend Susan Overmiller. We went to the same church and I was lucky enough to see him grow up after he had surgery for a brain tumor when he was 11 yrs old. Scar tissue caused seizures, and unfortunately he passed away in 2011 at age 27. Please help me remember our eternal star, Shawn, and help other kids surviving a brain tumor, by making a donation to help find a cure for brain tumors.

Thanks so much for visiting,

Monique
